WORKPLACE BULLYING, PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS, JOB SATISFACTION AND LIFE SATISFACTION AMONG TEACHERS: A CORRELATIONAL STUDY

This study was conducted to explore the relationship between workplace bullying, psychological distress, job satisfaction and life satisfaction among teachers across Sialkot City. The study was investigated to determine the impact of workplace bullying, psychological distress, job satisfaction and life satisfaction on each other among personnel of different organizations. The sample of 270 participants was selected through convenience sampling technique. The Negative Acts Questionnaire-Revised (NAQ-R) was translated into Urdu language by following the World Health Organization (WHO) translation procedure and Urdu versions of Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS- 21), Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) was administered to measure the responses of the participants. The results of the study revealed a positive correlation between workplace bullying and psychological distress,
and between job satisfaction and life satisfaction whereas, a negative relationship between workplace bullying and job satisfaction, also between workplace bullying and life satisfaction. The study was found a negative correlation between psychological distress and job satisfaction, between psychological distress and life satisfaction as well. The results of the study was showed that workplace bullying was a strong predictor of psychological distress and job satisfaction is a strong predictor of life satisfaction. The research findings also indicated that workplace bullying and psychological distress was negatively predicted to job satisfaction and life satisfaction. The findings from this study could be useful for improvement of workers’ mental health and increase their job and life satisfaction and also beneficial in developing better work environment in any working sector.
